Couple poses for photoshoot is an essential part of photography, even if there is someone who just needs candid couple photos, but the truth behind that is posing. TRADITIONAL COUPLES POSES
Couple photographers use several types of couple poses photography to reveal the beauty and authentic emotion of couples. Traditional couple poses exist from the beginning of photography. Even they are quite classic; these couple poses are still beneficial and easy to try for a couple who has no experience with a professional photoshoot.
01. OPEN BOOK POSE
I call this pose “opening book posing”, just imagine the man and his lady are like two pages of a book that are opening. In this pose, he strands straight with one hand in his pocket, and the other one held her waist. The lady stands close to him and put wait on one foot and push up the other foot on tiptoe to bring the curve of her hip. One of her hands on his back and the other one bends a little bit to show the man’s figures and her curve. That gap between her elbow and her waist creates contrast, showcasing more of her waistline. They’re looking at the camera and showing their smile.
02. CLOSING BOOK POSES
For this couple pose, the man or the lady turn their body to one side, like closing one page of a book. In the photos, she turns her body to show her left side to the camera. Depend on the lady’s favourite site of her face, she places her arm gently on his chest and makes sure it doesn’t block her waistline. The man can put his hand either on her sleeve, waist softly or in his pocket.
03. FACING EACH OTHER POSES
Now the couple will turn facing each other, like closing two pages of the book. To make a natural pose, the lady will put one of her foot back a little bit while her lover but his hand gently on her waist.
04. SIDE BY SIDE POSES
This one brings the old pose feel in which two persons are standing side by side, holding the hands and facing the camera. I saw this pose a lot for some Korean photographers. By doing a little bit different, such as looking at the opposite direction, or facing each other, we can have an exciting pose.
WALKING COUPLE POSES
This one is my favourite couple poses to take candid photos. We will start by walking to a destination, depending on the background of the session, the photographer can help you chose an exciting path. Don’t forget to ask the photographer to take a series of these cute couple poses to save all the candid moments.
05. HOLDING HAND POSE
Just pure, holding each other hands, walk to a spot, don’t forget to look and talk to each other. Sometimes the man leads his partner so that they won’t block each other from the view of the camera.
Tips: to make it look natural, try to forget about the camera, just pretend you two are jogging in a park.
06. HOLDING THE SHOULDER POSE
This one works best for young couples. Sometimes I want to make a casual pose, like the man holding his girlfriend’s shoulder and they walk on the street. A shoot from behind is must be tried.
07. WALKING UP THE STAIR POSE
Taking her hand to guide her up the stairs, don’t forget to keep your eyes on her gentlemen.
KISSING COUPLE POSES
The next tutorial is an exciting part of a session. The kissing pose is one of the best couple poses you should have in your photoshoot. The pose is not only useful for couple poses but also must-have for engagement photos. Everyone (I mean mostly adults) know how to kiss, but make your kisses look to nature and intimate in photos, you should see some technique.
08. TEASER KISS POSE
This romantic pose is like kiss anticipation where the couple’s lips parted less than half an inch from kissing. One can place his or her hand on their partner neck, make sure his or her thumb is on the face. Tips: To make this become more aesthetic pose, make the hips closer.
