How to propose to a Man?

Updated: Jul 3, 2020

In my career as a professional photographer, I was very much surprised when Jo contacted me to photograph her surprise proposal to her long-time boyfriend. I have never seen a woman proposing to a man in my entire life, ever!

But I guess there is a first time for everything.

The Paris proposal went perfectly. Jo’s man said, “Yes”, to her! This couple, who have been together for 5 years already, are now engaged. This proves equality, and that women can also do what men are expected to do.

So if you feel like it’s time to take your relationship to the next level, why don’t you go ahead and do what Jo did for a perfect Eiffel Tower Proposal.

Here is a brief guide as to how to propose to a man:

Think About How Your Man Would React

The first thing about how to propose to a Man is considering how your man will react. Anybody who is proposing, of course, would want to get a favorable answer. So the first thing that you need to do is to think about how your partner would react.

Is marriage something that you have already talked about before? Do you feel that your man is ready to spend the rest of his life with you? If so, then go for it.

Choose the Perfect Time and Place

Time and proposal locations are important when speaking about "How to propose to a man?" Getting a positive reaction also has something to do with the right timing and location.

When it comes to the place, you have to take into account your man’s personality. If you know that he is a private person, then you might as well do it somewhere where it’s just you and him or perhaps with your closest friends and family members.

On the other hand, if he is an outgoing person, then you may opt to propose in a public place. Maybe you can even get tickets for the two of you to watch his favorite sports game and do it right there. You can just imagine the crowd cheering as you get the magic word, “Yes!”. And if Paris is your proposal destination, don't' forget to check out the best place to propose in Paris.

As for the timing, pick a date that is meaningful to both of you. You can consider your anniversary or perhaps the date of your first kiss or even the very first time you went out together. You can also do it on Valentine’s Day or special occasions like the birthday of either one of you.

Pick the Right Token

Traditionally, when a man proposes to a woman, he gets on his knees, shows the ring, and pops the question, “Will you marry me?” However, you don’t have to follow this. You can spice things up a little bit if you wish to.

But to seal the deal once you get the YES, it would be more romantic if you have a token. It could be a ring, bracelet, watch, or anything special.

Photograph Every Moment

This part is something that you won’t be able to do on your own, so you need the help of a professional proposal photographer. Have every moment of your proposal photographed as this will give you something to look back to later on.
